The essence of human development is education, which weaves the socio-economic fabric of the country; it empowers us with the ability to think, to differentiate right from the wrong and good from the bad. In the present era, Organizations have pervaded all parts of our lives, including not just business organizations but educational systems, hospitals, semi-public and public organizations, NPOs, and so on. We are delving in a society of organizations and being the organs of the modern society, our quality of life depends on these organizations. It is through management education that we provide strength to this fabric woven around the socio-economic structure of our nation.

Business Schools are contributing towards the nation’s development by nurturing aspiring business leaders. Their focus is centered around the holistic approach, with equal focus on Domain Knowledge, Intellectual Development, Social Well-Being, Positive Mental Health and Spiritual Quotient. In Management Education, curriculum development and teaching methodologies are abreast with the demand of the economic environment which needs the youth of India needs to be versatile and future ready.

Management Education is the need of the hour as our country needs youth who are empowered with their wholesome business acumen, since the Manager, the Businessman and the Entrepreneur of today need much more weapons in the armory. A Holistic Management Degree has a curriculum focused upon all-round development of the aspiring students, with contemporary certification courses as part of the curriculum, catering to the need of today’s competitive scenario.

It has been very well said that no nation rises above the level of its education. A Nation is what its Youth is & Youth is what the Teacher makes of it”. It is a privileged being a part of the Management Education Fraternity which has facilitated me to actively contribute to Nation Building by encouraging holistic development of my students. The Youth are getting employment opportunities, which were earlier difficult with traditional main-stream courses devoid of practical exposures; this has transformed them by giving them an entry to the corporate world through live projects, corporate interface, industrial visits, dissertation and summer internship trainings which ultimately shows them the direction of their career and life.

We need better facilitators who realize that Management Education is the central component of India’s developmental process and we need to adopt modern techniques of teaching. Learning the management of technology, innovation and change is the need of hour for the aspiring management graduates. This has become imperative in the current VUCA environment that, education delivery must be highly flexible and adaptive of new methods with more impetus on technological innovations. A management degree is the best blend of acquiring functional domain knowledge and technological skills compounded by Soft Skills; it is a mode of touching new horizons and encompassing difficulties to realize one’s complete potential.

Management Educationists should be compelled to invigorate about breaking the mental molds, learning to unlearn, understanding the underlying challenges and issues in Indian Socio-Economic Scenario at broader perspective. Steps should be taken to encourage research and entrepreneurship through academic support and also to undertake joint research projects with Indian & Overseas universities.

Catering to a diverse pool of aspirants, the curriculum of a management degree needs to be customized for the betterment of students. In the traditional Educational System of India, where much remains unchallenged and unchanged, Business Schools are perhaps the only institutions providing much more to the platter apart from the generic classroom learning.

The youth of a nation outlines and molds its present and paves the way for its future. The responsibility of nation building lies majorly on the Young Generation, not the politicians or the policy makers alone. Students need to be encouraged to utilize their management degree to grow into a complete professional who will be market leaders of tomorrow. Students should be armed enough to face the challenges, they need to participate in relevant seminars & conferences so that they can start networking and. Institutes should also promote the entrepreneurial spirit and create the right opportunities towards making the Entrepreneurship dream come true and enables every student to carve a niche for themselves and become a responsible Global Citizen. The rich and unique learning environment develops the student physically, intellectually and emotionally. Institutes need to ensure a futuristic approach that keeps pace with the changing trends in the professional world through our global perspective.

I will urge the Young Generation to always remember 3P’s which I have strongly relied upon which are: Pride, Power of Dreams and Perseverance.

  • To scale new heights in your career, you need to have Pride in your roots, family, society and above all your country.
  • Power of Dreaming Big – Dreaming big is vital to grow and spread your wings higher. I have been fortunate that I got the opportunity to listen to great statesman Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam thrice. In one of such occasions, I got the opportunity to ask him the question, that how to motivate today’s young generation? To which, he replied – “Small Ambition is a Crime” and added that “teachers of our country have the responsibility to make students dream big”. There is a huge power in dreaming big.
  • Finally, the third P, Perseverance must become a habit, as without persistent efforts nothing is achievable. We need to ignite that passion and replenish it persistently till all our dreams are not fulfilled.

Management Education is a vital investment for the aspiring students in India. We are living in an inquiring and innovation-oriented society. The demand of today’s world is novelty, creativity, and integration of knowledge at the global level, research, critical and analytical thoughts. Holistic Development and not just academic knowledge is what is expected out of any Business School, failing which dilutes the very role of Management Education.
