Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT) is one of the premier private self-financing professional colleges in Kerala that has the distinction of being a true game changer in the field of engineering studies in the state. The vision of the college is to develop into a distinguished centre for technical education, imparting relevant and value based education in science, technology and management studies. The institute offers courses that are tailored to equip students with the skills and knowledge to meet the challenges of the new age life and careers. They provide extensive scope for career enhancement and the creation of aptitude and a comprehensive technical knowledge base. The academic curriculum of the college offers an extensive portfolio of programmes that include graduate and post graduate technical courses, masters in computer applications as well as masters in business administration.

The college places equal emphasis on facilities that aim at creating a very conducive environment for students for co-curricular pursuits as well a comfortable ecosystem for a wholesome campus life. FISAT can be credited with changing the game for private engineering education in the state by setting up extensive facilities and infrastructural services required to build top class capabilities in technical education and technology related research, along with creativity and innovation. The campus is located in Hormis Nagar at Mookkannoor, the birth place of the late K P Hormis, the founder of the Federal Bank, in the suburbs of Kochi, near Angamaly. Just fifteen kilometres from the Cochin International Airport and it is well connected by road, rail and air. Spread over an idyllic landscape of 36 plus acres, the campus is imbued with a refreshing rural ambience and is the centre of bustling student activities. With more than 5, 60, 000 lakh sq.ft of built up space, FISAT prides of one of the most extensive infrastructure facilities among the state’s engineering colleges. The campus houses academic and administrative blocks, hostels, research and lifestyle facilities for over 3200 students who are studying in various programmes. There are 218 faculty members and over 125 non-teaching staff members working in the institution. The college hostels provide resident accommodation for around 1100 students. Spacious class rooms, a language lab, a computerized digital library, fabrication lab, banking, healthcare and conveyance facilities, canteen, indoor and outdoor recreational amenities, backup power supply, eco friendly green campus, clean energy and various other conveniences all add up to make FISAT an educational institute in the elite genre of technical institutes in the state.

DRIVING INNOVATION
The institute has chalked up an illustrious track record in innovation and product development. The college’s determined focus on encouraging the spirit of inquiry and innovation stems from the realization that employability is a key factor in the career prospects of thousands of engineers who pass out every year. The college is credited with establishing Kerala’s first High Performance Computing Centre that aims at building a supercomputing lab working at several gigaflops of speed. Instrumentation Research and Consultancy Centre (IRACC), Centre for Advanced Research in Power Converters (CARPC), Center for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (Nodal center of KSUM), Federal Labz (Incubation Centre), Fab Lab, Centre for Earthquake Engineering Studies (CEES), Centre for Automotive Research (CAR) and Centre for Research and Innovations in Signal Processing (CRISP) are the other centers that power FISAT’s mission to nurture research and development. FISAT is one among the few colleges where, under the Research Promotion Scheme, AICTE has sanctioned research centers in the departments of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Computer Science Engineering. The Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship promotes entrepreneurship and innovation capabilities and skills in students. It supports and incubates entrepreneurship ventures and launches products developed by students of FISAT and other colleges. To supplement pedagogic learning and to give students access to the latest developments in technology and research, regular talks, business community interactions, workshops, seminars and design competitions are organized at regular intervals, are organized by the centre.EXTRA EDGE

FISAT has been selected as one of the Eklavya Outreach Programme Remote Centers of Indian Institute of Technologies and E Yenthraya (IIT) Bombay and Kharagpur. FISAT is also approved as a Resource Centre of IIT Bombay for the ‘Spoken Tutorial Project’. In the international collaboration we have signed MOU with three foreign universities from Japan, Malaysia and Korea.
