According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, India is 18th popular business travel destination and in next five years down the line it would in top five. With scarcity of hotel rooms, shortage of trained hotel management professionals, a lot needs to be prepared. With encouragement looming from the Government of India, real estate developers and hoteliers are trying to fabricate new hotels which would further supply and boost the job opportunities for young hotel management graduates.

The eligibility criteria for pursuing an MBA in Hotel or Hospitality master’s degree are holding a bachelor’s degree. Students will have to attend an entrance exam such as MAT/CAT/XAT or ATMA to get admitted into this course. The duration for this course is 2 years.
Job Opportunities and Trendy Career choices:
With an MBA in Hospitality Management students might make the grade for positions in a variety of business. Employer can include hotels, resorts and casinos. Possible job titles include event producer, lodging manager, meeting and convention director or director of special events. One can be placed in different categories of hotels ranging from Indian chain of five star properties such as Taj, Oberoi and Welcome group, ITCs to an international chain like Hyatt, Sheraton etc. One can get job in different department i.e. Front Office, House Keeping, Food and Beverage Service and Food Production according to their skill sets and Knowledge and their interest. Hotel management like any other sector is subject to the position of national economy and global economy. When the economy is doing well jobs draw closer a lot in the sector. At present there are more than 2.40 million people working in hotel, catering and allied industry in India and the number is going to be amplified in next couple of years as new hotels are coming up in large numbers in urban and semi-urban areas. Compensation:
Pay in hotel management industry diverges depending upon the management institute the candidate passed out from, work experience, skill sets and ability to handle hard-hitting situations. Those who come from top notch management institutes such receive starting salary of Rs 30,000 -35000 or more. Yet again the salary package differs a lot on the size and shape of the employment company. Large hotel chains proffer lucrative remuneration and mollycoddle their employees.
