Prof. (Dr.) Hari Om Sharan is a proficient academician and academic administrator with more than 16 years of experience in developing the strategy towards the excellence in professional education. Prof. Sharan is currently serving as Professor of Computer Science and Engineering and Dean – Engineering and Dean Academic Affairs & IQAC at Rama University Uttar Pradesh, Kanpur (UP), and India. His working capacity to lead the institution’s make over in to the world class University.
Prof. Sharan, earned the intellect in distinction as Ph.D (Computer Science), M.Tech (Computer Science & Engineering), and B.Tech (Computer Science & Engineering). Ha has done certification in Data Science from IBM, life time member of National Science Congress and he is having membership of Computer Society of India, and AIEEE. He has attended many training programs in leadership, and also delivers the expert talks on how to develop or enrich the curriculum, development of PO, PSO, PEOs, and how to design the vision and mission and the implementation. His academic areas of interest and specialization include Artificial Intelligence, Algorithms, High Performance Computing and Networking.
He is a visionary, inspirational, pragmatic, and engaged leader with a deep commitment to creating a sustainable ecosystem for all stakeholders in his sphere of involvement. He guides the institutions towards the academic excellence; promotes a culture of research, innovation and leads new curricula and program development efforts. He is expert in designing & deployment academic curriculum, and Program inception. As the chairman of IPR cell, he organizes the seminar, workshops for the students and faculty to promote the research.
Prof. Sharan also nurtures the ecosystem for incubation for the students as well as mentors. Under the leadership of Prof. Sharan many ideas are under incubation and few are incubated and develop the prototypes.Prof. Sharan developed short term course on Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning Deep Learning and its Application, and published 27 patents (National/International) & copyrights mostly in Computer Science and Engineering to serve the nation in the field of research. Dr. Sharan authored and coauthored more than 60 papers in refereed international journal (SCI and Non- SCI) and conferences like IEEE, Springer, International Journal of researcher, American Journal of Physics (USA) and many international Conferences and National Conferences, like IIT (International Conference) etc. and serve as editor of different international journal and Reviewer in SCI and Non SCI journal, serve as a committee member in many IEEE Society, Springer International Conferences. He is delivered a guest lecture, keynote speaker, chaired a session in many National and International conferences, webinars, Faculty Development program and workshops. Dr. Sharan associated in many highly impact Society Membership like IEEE, ACM, CSI, IAENG, ISC.
His key contributions to introduce the Activity-based Learning System and skill based learning system through project based learning instead of class room teaching in all programs across the university and the development and maintenance of a student-centric ambiance on the campus. He has pioneered the implementation of several technology-enabled innovations at Rama University, including LMS, Online examination system to conduct the internal as well as external examinations and online feedback system for all the stakeholders and use of innovation technology in the teaching-learning process, which has been running successfully with more than 5,000 users and 600 process owners. He has brought decisiveness; a strong commitment to quality, diversity, and belongingness; and exceptional leadership in mobilizing and the path forward.
Under the leadership of Prof. Sharan Rama University applied for NAAC accreditation, completed green audit, and ISO certification. He has been guiding to start the programs and for ranking of institutions on their path forward to excellence.
Besides his role as Dean Academic Affairs of Rama University, Prof. Sharan is also the Chairman of IPR Cell, Dean IQAC, Dean Engineering, and Chairman of Incubation Center (RCIIE) at Rama University. Currently, RU-RCIIE is supporting 25+ budding technology-driven entrepreneurs to convert their new ideas into business processes or products.
Prof. (Dr.) Hari Om Sharan is a prolific public speaker, who has delivered over 500 keynote addresses and lectures in diverse fields of education and academic excellence at different conferences, seminars, faculty development programs. She has published many research articles, authored/co-authored books, edited books, book chapters, copyrights, patents, etc.
He is also actively involved in different social outreach programs of Rama University like ‘Kisaan Mela’ (a programme to aware the farmers and how to increase the farmer’s income).
