Dr. K.Porkumaran is Principal and Professor, Sri Sai ram Engineering College, Anna University, Chennai, India. Received Bachelors Degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering from Madurai Kamaraj University, India. Masters Degree and Doctorate Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering specialized in Control Systems from PSG College of Technology with outstanding academic record.
He has over 24 years of research and teaching experience and has guided many research projects. He supervised and guided 13 Ph.D Scholars and three are in progress.
Awarded as a foremost Engineer of the World and Outstanding Scientist of the 21st century by “International Biographical Centre of Cambridge”, England 2007 and 2008 respectively. He has been identified as an outstanding person in the field of Science and Technology by MARQUIS Who’s Who, USA in the year 2006.He received Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan National Award for Best Engineering College Principal, IEI Outstanding Engineer Award 2020, CSI Distinguished Principal Award, IEEE Outstanding Branch Counselor Award 2016 from IEEE USA, Best ISTE Chapter Chairman Award 2014, ICTACT Best Coordinator Award (2012, 2013), ICATCT Innovator Award (2012, 2013, 2014), Best Outgoing Student Award 2000, PSG College of Technology.
He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), Professional Engineer (PEng), Fellow IE, Senior Member IEEE, Life member of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Biomedical Engineering Society of India (BMESI), Association for Computer Machinery (ACM). Convened and organized many workshops, conferences and symposia and chaired several technical sessions and moderator for many scientific sessions in international conferences. Mentor and counselor for professional chapters like IEEE, IEEE-WIE, ISOI, ISTE, BMESI, ACM, IE. Published more than 175 research papers and 10 book chapters, extensively in international journals and forums with good number of citations and handled a number of industry/government funded projects and schemes. Served as editor and reviewer for many national and international conferences and journals of high repute. His research areas of interest include Image and Video Processing, control system, modeling and simulation, Neural Networks, Fuzzy systems and Bio Signal Processing. He has visited foreign universities at Singapore, Malaysia and USA. To his credit, he has received a grant in aid of more than Eighty Seven Lakhs from various government funding agencies and leading corporates like AICTE, DST, CSIR, ISRO, DRDO, National Instruments, ICT Academy, ISTE, INSA, DST-SERB and IEEE. He established Industry Institute of Partnership Cell (IIPC). He is the academic governing council member, convener, steering committee member in reputed industries and member of Board of Studies for various reputed institutions and Universities.
He served in various capacities as Head of the department, Dean, Vice Principal, Director and Principal in esteemed Institutions. He has made remarkable contributions in quality assurance and sustenance initiatives in Higher Education.
