The ultimate goal of any Research paper and the Researcher should be to provide readers from all over the world with writing that includes a diverse range of points of view. Teaching, research, and consulting are three significant areas in which any Professor wishes to excel.  Teaching generates appreciation from students, consulting generates appreciation from industry, and research writing generates appreciation from all over the world because your writing and research reach the global community.

The vast majority of academic writing done in English today anticipates, or at least hopes, that it will be read by readers from all over the globe. When writing articles, paper or review for international journals, however, not all academic and scientific writers broaden their perspectives and modify their writing in order to appeal to readers from all over the world. Your writing has a lower chance of being read by as many people, comprehended by those who do read it, or cited by those who do read it if you do not pay attention to this essential component of sound scholarship. 

You are in luck because there are a few helpful things you can do to make your writing clear and simple to understand for readers of all backgrounds all over the world, whether they are academics or industry professionals. You need to choose the language that you use in your paper with an international readership in mind, particularly when you first discuss your study and the context in which it was conducted. For example, it’s important not to have biases about people based on their race, country, sexual orientation or gender, social class, level of education, age, and a lot of other things.

We must never use language that is derogatory towards women, gives one group of people more significance than another, or makes blanket statements about a specific group of people. If your results says so, you have to balance the discussion because any research findings are further to be explored. You should try to avoid using terms that are too general so that your meaning can be understood by all of your readers. The phrases “in our area” and “in local universities” are examples of imprecise descriptions that will fail to provide your readers (particularly those from other locations and contexts) with the information they require unless you first specify where you are working and the locations of the universities in question. “In our area” and “in local universities” are examples of imprecise descriptions.

Your research, its participants, and its setting should be described using words and phrases that are as specific as they can be in order to be the most effective. This will also assist you in avoiding using terminology that is unintentionally biased. On the other hand, your language shouldn’t be so specific to your country or region that people from other places can’t understand it or connect with your writing.

Currency and educational systems are two examples of subjects in which you should not only give specific information about the original place but also explain the details in a way that makes sense to people who do not know a lot about the culture of the original place. In India, students who are in their first year of study, are referred to as ‘Juniors’, whereas in the United States, students who are in their “first year” of college are referred to as “freshmen.” People from other countries may not be familiar with the term “Juniors”, ”freshman,” even though “first-year student” is crystal obvious.

When you first use a term that might be unclear or ambiguous, it is best to use words that everyone will understand, such as “mobile phone” instead of “mobile” (used in the India / UK) or “cell” (used in the US), or to offer a brief explanation. For instance, the fuel that is referred to as “gas” or “gasoline” in the United States is called “petrol” in the India. When traveling to a distant country, dates that are written only in numbers can be particularly difficult to interpret. For instance, in American English, the date “10/11/23” corresponds to the 11th of October, whereas in Indian English context it denotes the 10th of November. The readers have no way of knowing which date is intended because they are not given any additional information. Because the month can be expressed as a Roman numeral (for example, ’10.xi.23′), it is not possible to confuse the day of the month with the month itself. You could also use the date format devised by the International Organisation for Standardisation, in which case the digits would be written in the sequence of year, month, and day, as in “2023-11-10.” No matter which method you choose to use to record dates, the best way to ensure that your audience comprehends them is to describe them in a concise and consistent manner throughout the entire document.

You can reach out to the global community by using proper English, phases, and sentences that are easy to comprehend for an international audience. While the world believes in facts and figures, your writing should handle this topic. Add more facts and figures, and the readers will be convinced on a global scale. And, if your writing catches the notice of any Global Research Institute or Association, you will almost certainly be invited to join their Research team for your next writing.
